Dr. Amit Javed is an expert Gastrointestinal, Gastrointestinal Cancer, Bariatric/Weight loss surgeon with over 20 years experience. He has trained at the premier medical institutes of India and abroad. He did his MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal; M.S General Surgery and Senior Residency from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh; and M.Ch Gastrointestinal Surgery from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. He is ECFMG certified and was awarded the FACS degree by the American College of Surgeons in San Francisco, California, USA.
He has been a Faculty at the Department of G.I Surgery at GB Pant Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, New Delhi and has trained many G.I Surgeons of the country. He has worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Abdominal Transplant Surgery at the most prestigious University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), USA wherein he was involved in liver, pancreas and kidney transplants and also at the thoracic division of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), New York, USA.
Dr. Javed is an avid researcher and has contributed more than 50 articles in various international and national journals and text books. He has also described various innovative surgical techniques which have been published.
He has been an invited faculty at various international and national meetings. He has a vast experience of performing surgeries for complex gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary diseases, cancers and bariatric/weight loss surgeries, performing more than 1000 surgeries each year. He is especially skilled in minimally invasive/laparoscopic surgeries and has been a mentor to many budding surgeons.
